Use Your Platform

As Christ followers, we all have a platform of influence. Many of us feel unqualified to serve or to share our faith with others. We feel not good enough, smart enough, and are painfully aware of our sin and imperfections. The good news is the Bible is full of imperfect people that God used mightily to serve and save His people. We do not have to be an ordained minister behind a pulpit to make a powerful impact for the Kingdom.
Our own experiences, how God knit us together, and our journey of faith all give us a platform to serve and impact others. Think for a minute where your platform of influence lies. Is it your work place? At home? At your volunteer position? If you identify as a Christ follower, then you undoubtedly have a platform in which to spread the Good News of the Gospel and life-changing love of Christ.
God will give you a platform, and it is up to you to be faithful with that influence. You aren’t just a bank teller, a stay-at-home mom, a student or a teacher. You aren’t solely defined by your earthly roles. You carry the spirit of the living Savior within you. You carry the life giving, fire yielding Word of God within your heart. You carry the truth that will break chains and set the troubled soul free. You carry words that will minister and speak to the most broken places in a person’s heart.
You carry the grace, mercy and kindness of our Lord and Savior, Jesus. This is powerful. You aren’t “just” anything. You are a child of the most High God, the One that led his people by a cloud of fire by night and commanded the sea to open. The One that can call a legion of angels at His whim. The One the winds and waves obey. You aren’t “just” anybody. You carry the boldness of the King within you. Don’t ever feel you don’t have a platform or ministry. If you are alive, then you have a calling, a destiny, a plan for your life, and a platform to embrace.
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10
Look around you. There are hurting people surrounding us every day. And that hurt looks different for each individual. Every person we encounter can use prayer and encouragement about something going on in their life. We live in a flawed world in these earthen vessels, and none of us are without some type of struggle. Be sensitive to the Holy Spirit and ask God how you can do His work each and every day.
In the morning, before you grab your phone and check social media, before you make your coffee, before you get lost in the hectic routine of the morning - ask God to help you use your platform. God will supply what you need. Don’t focus on your ability, but train your eye on His ability.
“…equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, though Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.” Hebrews 13:21
Prayer for the week: Father, help me be a person of influence where You have planted me. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, direct my words and actions to reach and minister to others for Your glory. Let all I do glorify Your Name. In times of doubt, help me to refocus my eyes on You, and all that You are. Bring people into my path, so I can share the life changing love of Jesus with them. Help me identify my platform of influence, and embrace it. Use me, Lord, to make an impact for the Kingdom this week. In Your Name, Amen.
